Interfaith Trip to Museum of Jewish Heritage

On Monday, February 19th, Presidents' Day, the Interfaith Committee of EMJC and Our Lady of Refuge RC Church will sponsor a trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage to see the exhibit A Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People.

In the course of his papacy, John Paul II broke the chain of 2000 years of painful history between Catholics and Jews. He was the first pope to enter a synagogue, officially visit and recognize the State of Israel, and formally engage in an act of repentance for the Catholic Church’s historical treatment of the Jews.

The exhibition, a collaboration between Xavier University (Cincinnati), the Hillel Jewish Student Center (Cincinnati), and the Shtetl Foundation, is part of a tradition of interfaith efforts at the Museum. Since its dedication in 1997, the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust has used its educational and public programming to promote interfaith dialogue.

For more information about the Interfaith Committee trip on February 19th, contact the Center office.
