A Weekly Message from Rabbi Sam Levine 3.26.20

Thursday, March 26

Friends,

First of all, an important public service announcement: As happens in times of crisis, unscrupulous people are taking advantage of the Coronavirus health crisis to run scams on unsuspecting people.  Please beware (and be aware!) of scams and scammers – DO NOT GIVE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION (INCLUDING CREDIT CARD NUMBERS, SSN’S ETC) TO ANYONE OVER THE PHONE.

Next, to tie up a few loose ends, here are links to more services, classes, and events over the weekend (and on an ongoing basis).  There are four events here:

  1. Ma’ariv and Martinis – we are starting a daily evening minyan, 6:45 pm Monday through Thursday.  The service is about 15 minutes long, and after that, folks are invited to hang out for a while and chat, visit with friends, etc.  Bring your favorite drink – it’s cocktail hour! (wine, seltzer, Scotch, orange juice – whatever you like!)

  1. Saturday night Mincha/Ma’ariv/Havdalah service, 7:20 pm.

  1. Abraham’s Table Interfaith Program – this Sunday at 3:30.  Should be a fascinating program, and it’s a great time to connect with people from outside our immediate community.  Three speakers from three faiths will discuss spiritual aspects of health and healing, with some discussion time afterwards.  Make yourself a nice snack, pour yourself a glass of something, and enjoy. Here’s a nice interfaith image to inspire you:

  1. Community Conversation and Questions with the Rabbi (that’s me!).  Twice a week, ongoing: Mondays at 10 am and Fridays at 1:00 pm. This is an opportunity just to check in with me and others, have a freewheeling conversation, just to connect and say hi.  Good time to bring your Passover questions! It’s not a class, it’s not a service.

Stay healthy and smart – there is helpful new information coming out every day about how to avoid contracting the virus – please avail yourselves.  I will send something out tomorrow about shopping and handling groceries.

With blessings for peace, calm, and health in these difficult times,

Chodesh Tov – a good (better!) month to all.

Rabbi Sam Levine
