A Weekly Message from Rabbi Sam Levine 8.20.2020

Friends,
The month of Elul, which begins tonight and will end with Rosh Hashanah, is meant to be a month of intense introspection during which we are asked to grapple with the complex themes of the High Holy Days. It is a time for “getting right with God” and also with our fellow human beings. We will begin reciting special psalms and prayers (including selichot) this month, all with the intent of getting our hearts ready for the Days of Awe.
Elul at EMJC 2020

Please join us for the next three Wednesdays at 7:30 pm for our program:
Elul: Get Ready, Travel Through, Arrive.
For the next three Wednesdays, Audrey and I (and friends, including Cantor Julia Ostrov) will lead some reflective programs in the spirit of Elul, bringing our virtual community together in anticipation of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. We will also be sending out emails a few times a week with songs, poems, and reflections that we hope will stimulate further spiritual preparation for the Days of Awe.
Contact roomj@emjc.org for the Zoom link.
We hope to see you there.
